I had a heck of a time zeroing this. I did what I have done for every other scope in my lifetime. I attached the rings to the rail loosely, put the scope on, verify that I can get the clearance for the scope, the bolt, etc. then I take everything off. Then I redo the process till everything is nice and tight. Then I take a bore sighting laser and insert it into the chamber and close the bolt. I have my rifle sitting in a tripod so it's not moving. Then while looking down the scope, I adjust the turrets so that the laser is about 1/2 moa below the crosshairs at about 22 yards. (the length of my office wall to the living room wall. Eject the laser and insert it again, verify the same setting. do this 3 more times. Typically at 100 yards I'm within 2-3 MOA of center of my crosshairs...
This scope I was shooting dirt. I couldn't even get on paper. Spotters couldn't even see the splash. I had to get a large paper target 3ft by 4ft and put it at 45 yards. Then I aimed at center.... no splash. I aimed at the top center of the target and it hit 15 inches low to the left. so I made adjustments and ultimately had to come UP a whole rotation of the turret.
Then I got on target. and with this being a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle, I can shoot my 1/2 MOA at 100 yards. So now that I'm zeroed, I did my wall to wall laser check. My laser at 22 yards is 4 MOA HIGHER than the crosshairs.
Something is up with this scope, I just cant figure out what it is. Now, since i had to come up whole rotation to zero this.... i now have only 1 full rotation UP before the scope is maxed out. By my estimation from the ammo used, BC and everything else, that will allow me to shoot out to about 750-800/850 yards.
the reason I'm giving this a 2 star and not lower is because it's going to be on my son's hunting rifle and it's only ethical to shoot out to about 350-400 max, and for him, he will only be shooting about 200max. If I wanted to shoot 1000+ yards regularly, this would be a 1 star scope. But I cant shoot out to 1000 yards with this current scope.
Now about the Scope itself. The Glass is clear, no issues there. It's a nice feeling scope. The turrets don't lock but are snug and do stay in place. My scope DID come with rings (didn't say it in the listing, so I bought others). It's easy to mount, it looks good on the gun. It's not toooo heavy. Does have illumination on the reticle crosshairs. it's a clear zoom to 32x.
I just wish I could figure out why this was so hard to zero.
Awesome scope
